Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers Share"Get Loose"

Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers have released "Get Loose," the second offering from Hanmer's upcoming sophomore album, which is due out in September 2021, and the release's namesake. The new single follows "Sick of Me," Molly's highly anticipated first drop in three years since her she debuted with the LP 'Stuck in Daydream.'

With "Get Loose," the LA based singer-songwriter stakes a claim to the ripping guitar lines of rock n' roll and blues, marking a complete metamorphosis from Molly's Americana and psychedelic origins to her no-holes-barred sound, underpinned by her hunger to create music that incites real emotion, an all important endeavor in the wake of the pandemic, and the social upheaval experience over the last two years.

"On “Get Loose,” Hanmer struts with her smokey croon, shaking the dust from her hair to the cathartic grumble of woozy riffs and tumbling drum rolls. “Come on and get loose,” she invites with her droning wail — a sincere call to wake up to the priceless value on being alive, healthy, and able to lose yourself to the music."

Grimy Goods Magazine

The lyrics of the single implore it's listeners to "get loose", while the heavy, grooving riffs lead by example, generating an almost immediate and unstoppable need to start banging your head the rhythm. Get Loose is an unrestrained meditation from Molly, as she shakes off any bridles holding back her full musical force.

'“Get Loose” is our carpe diem song. The pandemic woke us up to the value of being alive. And this single is a reminder to savor that, to open our hearts and minds, to break the so-called rules. Carpe Diem, dance as if no-one is watching sort of thing." - Molly Hanmer

About Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers

Rock, blues and psychedelic influenced singer-songwriter guitarist Molly Hanmer is originally from Pacific Grove in Monterey County along California's coastline. Although not far in distance from the San Francisco Bay Area, life in Pacific Grove is closer to that of life in a small town. It was in this idyllic setting where Molly first picked up her Dad's guitar at age six. It was her dad's Lyle Dove, an acoustic guitar about the same size as she was. Molly's dad watched her interest grow and by age 13 her Dad hired local guitar instructor Robert McNamara whom Molly cites as one who further inspired her.

Molly's wide variety of musical influences include Bob Dylan, Billie Joe of Green Day and Jackie Greene. When Molly first heard the song "Hard Rain" by Bob Dylan she was a freshman in high school. Molly started playing solo gigs in San Francisco and Monterey and at her first open mic performance in San Francisco she was immediately asked to return by the promoter. A short time later she had a serendipitous encounter with Claudia Miles, a former industry professional with a passion for music who had left the business for a career in Psychotherapy. Even though they were years apart in age they found themselves to be kindred spirits and had a lot in common when it came to music. Since then Claudia and Molly have worked and wrote songs together. Claudia encourages Molly to move to Los Angeles, California, where more performing opportunities were available. There Molly received a warm welcome and secured performing spots at some of LA’s most prestigious live music venues.

Inspired by her trip to Ireland Molly recorded her debut EP On My Way, shortly after that she began to form a band that she called “The Midnight Tokers”.  In July 2016, Molly was introduced to producer Marvin Etzioni (Lone Justice, Counting Crows) and worked together to develop her material for the upcoming album "Stuck in a Daydream" which was mixed by two time grammy-winner producer and engineer Sheldon Gomberg (Ben Harper, Rickie Lee Jones, Fiona Apple). The album was released in 2018 with recognition of local radio stations such as 88.5 KCSN on the Dylan Hour, as well as in the UK, Canada and Japan. Media of the likes of No Depression, Monterrey Weekly and Vents Magazine also reviewed the album and its singles.

After three years, and a pandemic in between, Molly teamed up once again with Sheldon Gomberg to bring her sophomore album Get Loose to life. Finding the right balance between perfection and rawness this new collection of songs is musically strongly influenced by Molly’s love for rock, blues, and psychedelic roots. Emotionally these compositions are an expression of music sensibility, touching on themes of life amidst extraordinary human circumstances.

Get Loose is set to be released in September 2021.
