Hundreds of Miami Art Week attendees came out for "Richard Vergez: Trains of Thought," the latest presentation from homework gallery.

Hosted by homework, the nomadic gallery celebrating emerging artists from around the globe, the solo exhibition by the South Florida-based, Cuban-American artist was capped by a closing celebration on December 3 featuring performances by Little Annie and ZaZa. It was the last event in a week's worth of programming that included panels, DJ sets, and live music. Plenty of Miami locals came out to homework seeking an alternative to the glitzier events happening during Art Week.

After an opening night party DJ'd by up-and-coming Miami performer House of Pris on Wednesday, November 30, activations continued throughout Art Week. homework celebrated its 1-year anniversary with a party on Thursday, December 1 featuring a listening session with Rum & Coke. On December 2, the Noir Age collective hosted a video screening. Finally, just before the closing party, homework hosted "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Practical Advice for Career Artists," a panel featuring Miami New Times editor Jose Duran, homework founder Aurelio Aguilo, artist Magnus Sodamin, and Raygun Agency co-founder Florencia Franceschetti.

The Knoxon, located at 7411 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33138, hosted the exhibition by Vergez, which featured the artist's mixed-media collages and installation art investigating trains, aiming to reveal the way these vehicles interact with our lives, both physically and metaphorically. These works resonate deeply in a city like Miami, which continues to suffer from a massive deficit in public transit options that might be alleviated by an increased investment in trains.
