Following a milestone festival appearance at III Points 2021 in their hometown of Miami, indie rock outfit Bed Scene have dropped the video for their new single, “It Feels Better.” This is the first release since their 2020 offering, “American Dream.”

Inspired by the concrete jungle of Miami, the bright, breezy instrumental of “It Feels Better” is balanced by lyrics about the anxieties of adulthood and life in the big city. The band juxtaposes their endless summer sound with a story about the struggle for success, singing “Working hard just tryin’  to survive / Ain’t it a pity / Chasing dreams with stars in your eyes.” Musically, the song is anchored by a sunny fun guitar melody and high-gloss production reminiscent of the Beach Boys, Girls, and other classic surf rock bands.

The band performed their new song and others at III Points on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Artists elsewhere on the eclectic lineup include The Strokes, Wu-Tang Clan, Eric Prydz, and more.

“‘It Feels Better’ is about working hard to overcome the obstacles of life while focusing on the things that make you happy.”  – Bed Scene

About Bed Scene

Founded by guitarist and lead vocalist Nick Aponte as a solo songwriting project in 2017, Bed Scene released their self-titled debut EP in 2018, drawing inspiration from performing in Boston and Miami and Aponte’s work as a jingle writer. After gaining a featured spot on the official Spotify “Fresh Finds” playlist, EP single “Easy on the Eyes” earned over 40,000 plays overnight. Aponte spent the next year refining his songwriting style and exploring his Hispanic-American heritage, and in 2019 Bed Scene released the “Dulcinea” EP, inspired by 1980s Spanish ballads and lo-fi pop.

Following “Dulcinea”, the band expanded its line up with the addition of Michelle Reinkopf (bass, backing vocals), Andrew Burt (keyboards), and Danny Portal (drums). The new, fully-formed Bed Scene solidified its indie, pop-rock sound through a string of singles released from late 2019 into 2020. Out of all of these tracks, “Vile” saw the most success, gaining over 226,000 plays on Spotify and an invitation to perform at the 2020 FilmGate Interactive Award Ceremony & Interactive Screening, where the band also picked up the “Best Sound” award.
